On May 24, 2008, Harnarayan Singh called the first ever Punjabi NHL broadcast: Game 1 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Final between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. In October 2008, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) created weekly Punjabi broadcasts to accompany the traditional English language HNIC broadcasts.
